Muncie police officer suspende

A Muncie police officer has been suspended 20 additional days without pay for driving a city police car around a go-cart track at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 87 last fall.

Patrol officer Greg Polk was suspended by Muncie's Police Merit Commission last week by a unanimous vote for violating several department rules, including neglect of duty and failing to assess damage to equipment and vehicles.

Police Chief Deborah Davis recommended more discipline for the officer, who has a history of driving problems and misconduct with the department, she said. Polk received a 10-day suspension last year for the incident.

According to the agreement signed by Polk and his attorney, Andrew Duncan, the officer also must pay $214 in damages to the vehicle and also face possible termination for any future misconduct, given his history of suspensions.
