Malaysia police to quiz anti-c
Malaysian police said on Thursday they will question the country's anti-corruption chief about allegations concerning his wealth in a case that analysts say could embarrass the government.

Zulkipli Mat Noor, a former senior policeman who heads the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA), again denied on Thursday the allegations and said he did not want to be emotional over the issue.

"I have the confidence and courage to face the problem because I believe in God and only a person with guilt needs to be afraid," Malaysia's Bernama news agency quoted him as saying.

No charges in 3rd videotaped o

No criminal charges will be filed in connection with a videotaped bar fight between an off-duty Chicago police officer and another officer from Washington D.C., prosecutors said Wednesday.

The fight at a Near North Side tavern was the third such incident involving an off-duty Chicago police officer to surface in recent weeks. Video footage of one of the previous incidents, which shows a 250-pound off-duty officer attacking a female bartender, has appeared worldwide on the Internet and cable news channels.

Investigators began reviewing the videotape from the more recent fight after the police officer from Washington D.C. filed a complaint about the fight with Chicago's Office of Professional Standards.

''The state's attorney's office has concluded there is insufficient evidence to bring charges,'' said John Gorman, a spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney.

The Chicago officer, who has not been identified by authorities, still faces possible disciplinary measures, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said. He remains on duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

''Our departmental investigation will continue,'' Bond added.

Police Superintendent Philip J. Cline announced his retirement Monday amid complaints about the department's handling of the previous misconduct allegations.

Of the three fights caught on videotape, only one has resulted in criminal charges.

In that incident, Anthony Abbate, a 12-year veteran of the force, is allegedly seen punching and kicking a bartender on Feb. 19 after she reportedly refused to continue serving him drinks, authorities said.

Abbate is facing felony aggravated battery charges. The police department has also moved to fire him.

Six other officers were stripped of police powers last week after they were accused of beating four businessmen in a bar on Dec. 15. They have not been charged in the incident.
