Man shot by Fulton County poli
A man who was injured by police in a shooting that killed his brother was released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Roy Pettaway III, 27, was shot early Sunday by Fulton County police officers who were responding to a report of a fight at a bar. He was treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.

His brother, Ron Pettaway, 26, was killed.

Police said neither man had weapons. The Fulton County medical examiner's office said Ron Pettaway was shot in the back of the head. Police say Roy Pettaway was shot in the stomach, but family members say he was shot in the back.

Jury convicts suspended Arab p

A suspended Arab police officer awaits sentencing after circuit jury convicted him of soliciting sexual favors from four women in exchange for dropping traffic citations. Jurors, after four days of deliberations, returned the guilty verdict yesterday against 30-year-old Shane Alldredge. He did not testify at the trial.

A Marshall County grand jury last year indicted the seven-year police veteran and SWAT team leader. He was on trial for violating a state ethics law prohibiting public employees from soliciting anything of value in exchange for influencing an official action.

Alldredge, who remains free on a 25-hundred dollar bond, faces between two to 20 years in prison for each count. No sentencing hearing was announced.

Defense lawyer Randy Gladden of Huntsville says he will likely appeal the conviction
