Provincial Commander Praises P

Malanje, 03/01 - Angola`s National Police commander for northern Malanje province, Tuesday in Luanda praised the work done by the corporation in the fight against crime and other missions of the safeguard of the country`s and citizens integrity.

Sub-commissioner Francisco Massota who is also provincial delegate of the Interior Ministry, was addressing the ceremony of celebrations of the National Police, on Tuesday (28 February).

He on the occasion mentioned the achievements in the fields of operation and training of personnel, as part of the modernisation and development of the corporation.

He said that following operations carried out by the national police in 2005, in the region, a total of 1,731 assorted crimes were recorded, 1,686 of which were clarified, which corresponds to a performance of 97 percent.

According to Francisco Massota, 1,460 people were detained in connection with the said crimes, including nine foreigners from Mali, Libya, Vietnam and D.R Congo.

The source mentioned physical voluntary offences, unauthorized driving (252), theft (238), murder (66) and rape (44), in the districts of Malanje, Cacuso, Calandula, Caculama, Quela, Cangandala, Cahombo, Massango, Marimbe and Kiwaba-Nzoji.

As to the modernisation of the national police, he said that the efforts have led to the training of officers, sergeants and constables in the specialties of criminal investigation, computing, public management and finances and protection of personalities and others.
