Best efforts wasted on police
THE best efforts of NSW Police Commissioner Ken Moroney and of Police Training College head, Commander Tony Aldred to crack down on unsatisfactory behaviour and lift standards at the college seem to have counted for little.
For documents released to The Daily Telegraph show an appalling pattern of drunkenness, intimidation, sexual misconduct and even threats of violent crime remain prevalent at the college.
The documents show instances of training staff being found drunk on duty, an instructor demanding sexual favours in return of passing grades, guns going missing, and... Read more

Onalaska Police Officer Could
An Onalaska police officer could lose his job after being accused of lying and omitting facts during an investigation.
John Walker has been an officer on the Onalaska police force since 1986.
He currently serves as an investigator for the department, but now the Chief of Police is asking that Walker be terminated.
According to a report written by Chief Jeff Trotnic Walker was investigating a car break-in, in July, when he mishandled his investigation by breaking the department's policy for having a witness identify a suspect.
The report goes on to say Walker covered up the way he handled the investigation by lying about it and omitting details from his report.
The report accuses Walker of six different violations including breaking the department's code of ethics, being untruthful and filing a false report.
Chief Jeff Trotnic says, "A recommendation has been made to the police and fire commission for termination of the officer based on what I feel the severity of the charges are."
Walker's attorney declined to comment on camera but did say that both he and his client feel the Chief has overshot the appropriate actions in this case and the call for termination is not warranted.
Andrew Schauer added that he and his client look forward to the hearing so that both sides of this case can be heard.
He also said that while his client will admit to some of the claims against him Walker will not be admitting to everything he is accused of.
John Walker was also investigated in 1988 by the department for making a false official statement and failing to file a domestic violence report, among other things.
He served a 30 day suspension. Walker is currently on paid administrative leave from the department.
This is not a criminal case. Walker is not accused of breaking any laws, only department policy.
A hearing in this case is set for the first week in November in front of the Police and Fire Commission.
