Iran blasts UAE police over mi
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi lashes out at the Dubai police over their mistreatment of Iranian travelers.
Police at Dubai International Airport have beaten and insulted nearly 150 Iranian men and women traveling from Tehran, according to Tabnak. The police claim to have reports suggesting that one of the travelers had been carrying narcotics.
Qashqavi urged officials of the United Arab Emirates on Monday to treat Iranian travelers with respect.
Qashqavi also announced that Iran's Foreign Ministry had summoned the UAE charge d'affaires to Tehran in protest at the conduct; Iran urged the UAE diplomat to demand that the UAE police rectify their approach.
"Such inappropriate behavior will damage the public opinion of the UAE in Iran," the spokesman said.
He rejected reports that Iran's Foreign Ministry has been apathetic about the UAE treatment.
