Malaysia: ACA detains two poli

Two police officers from the Kuching Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) were detained by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) today on suspicion of soliciting for and receiving bribes from a distributor of pirated VCDs.



Sarawak ACA Director Mohd Yusoff Akope said both Probationary Inspectors, aged 25 and 28, were detained at 3.40pm at the Kuching CCID office at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Addruce, here.

“Both police officers were suspected of receiving bribes amounting to RM10,000 and asking for RM50,000 to release the pirated VCD distributor and his vehicle which had been impounded by the police.

“They had also received RM8,000 as part payment,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
