Support officer admits miscond
A police community support officer (PCSO) has been jailed for nine years for using his position to extort sexual favours from two prostitutes.
Amar Iqbal, 26, admitted two charges of misconduct in a public office, one of false imprisonment and one charge of rape at Stafford Crown Court.
Iqbal, of Mansell Road in Small Heath, Birmingham, was told that his behaviour undermined public trust.
Iqbal, a PCSO for 10 months, said he brought shame on himself and family.
Noted registration
Sentencing Iqbal, Judge Simon Tonking said he needed to deter him and others from misusing their positions.
The offences, in December 2006 and January 2007, came to light when a prostitute approached two plain clothes police officers on an operation in the Small Heath area, the court heard.
Anthony Potter, prosecuting, said the woman told them a man claiming to be with the vice squad had threatened her with arrest for loitering and other offences.
Another prostitute said Iqbal fled in his car after she threatened to call the police when he made sexual demands.
