Australian police force 'model
Australian police in an armed robbery squad modelled themselves on violent criminals in Quentin Tarantino's film Reservoir Dogs, dressing in black suits and sunglasses, and assaulting suspects.
The Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) in Victoria acted as an unofficial force within the police, with members swearing allegiance to the squad and altering the police uniform to include a tie with two gold, intersecting revolvers, a report has found.
The Office of Police Integrity report on the AOS examined four decades of the squad's history and found a disproportionate number of com... Read more

Mounties file complaints again
Stellarton's police chief is under investigation by the Nova Scotia Police Commission.
Chief Ambrose Heighton confirmed Wednesday that complaints have been filed against him by four RCMP officers in Pictou County.
Heighton said the complaints stem from a letter he received about alleged RCMP misconduct.
Heighton wouldn't discuss the details of the letter or the complaint, but said all he did was pass the letter on to the Justice Department.
Heighton said he has a good rapport with members of the RCMP and doesn't feel he's done anything wrong.
Tom Haney, director of the Nova Scotia Police Complaints Commission, confirmed that complaints were received by the commission in November, but declined further comment.
``I can't say who they're against and I can't say who they're by because right now all they are are unconfirmed allegations and it really wouldn't be fair,'' he said.
The investigation, which has already started, will last for 60 days provided there isn't a request to extend it.
If the investigation finds Heighton in the wrong, the Stellarton Police Commission has the authority to discipline him.
The commission's chair, James Hood, said he wasn't prepared to say anything about the investigation at this time, although he was aware of it.
``I can't comment on that yet. I have no report to give,'' he said.
Calls to the RCMP were not returned.
