India: CPI alleges corruption
The CPI's Tamil Nadu unit on Thursday alleged there was corruption in the recruitment of police personnel and irregurlarities in various spheres, including sand mining, in the state.
There were irregularities in the state. Money was being taken for appointment of sub-inspectors and inspectors of police, CPI state Secretary T Pandian told reporters here.
There were complaints about the ruling DMK functionaries also, he said.
Pandian, however, said the CPI had no fundamental differences with the DMK.
He said a third front at the national level was possible if all the political parties which were not pro-American and against the economic and liberalisation policies of the Congress and BJP come together.
The Left parties, including the CPI, CPI-M, RSP and the Forward Bloc, were united in fighting against private sector investments in the retail sector, disvestment in public sector units etc. Other parties supporting the same policies should join them.
He said the three-day national council of the party meeting in Chennai from January 17 would take a decision on the third front, and other issues.
He also wanted a thorough review of the Special Economic Zone policy as they did not provide the level playing ground for the local industries.
