Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson says he is deeply saddened by the nature of sexual allegations against two senior police officers on the Sunshine Coast.

The officers have been suspended and will appear in court next month after being charged with sexual and other offences against three women in the watch-house last year.

The charges were the result of an eight-month investigation by the Police Ethical Standards Command.

Mr Atkinson says it was an extensive investigation.

Spring Valley police officer s

SPRING VALLEY -The village Board of Trustees suspended Police Officer David Lebron without pay yesterday pending a civil service hearing on departmental charges.

Lebron, 38, a police officer for 15 years, faces a number of departmental charges. The accusations are based on criminal accusations that he sexually abused a woman and filed phony police reports.

Lebron faces dismissal from the police department as a result of the departmental hearing or any conviction of the criminal charges.

Lebron can remain suspended without pay indefinitely, pending the outcome of the hearing, Police Chief Paul Modica said.

Lebron's base pay is $86,638, without overtime and other contractual perks that bring his annual pay to the mid-$90,000 range, Modica said.

He had been suspended with pay since last month.

A hearing date has not been set, nor have Lebron and his attorney responded to the departmental charges, officials said. The hearing would be held before the village board, which acts as the Board of Police Commissioners.

Lebron, an officer with Spring Valley for 10 years and five years with the New York Police Department, pleaded not guilty last week to the six-count grand jury indictment.

The grand jury charged Lebron with two counts of first-degree falsifying business records and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies.

He also was charged with four counts of third-degree sexual abuse, official misconduct, second-degree falsifying business records and second-degree offering a false instrument for filing, all misdemeanors.

Lebron faces a maximum of 1 1/3 to 3 years in prison on the felony counts and a year in the county jail on the misdemeanors.

Lebron is accused of grabbing a village woman's breast and kissing her in April. He is then accused of filing false police reports to justify his being at the woman's house and accounting for his time.

Lebron also is accused of filing a false statement in a police report to undercut another officer's interview of a witness in October 2006.

He is due back before Judge Catherine Bartlett on Nov. 27.
