Thousands to miss out as polic
The minimum entry point for police recruits has been raised. The entry point into the force will be a C- (minus) up from the previous D+ (plus).

Police investigate spate of es
Eastern Cape police and correctional authorities are baffled by the high rate of suspects escaping from police custody, magistrate's courts and correctional centres in the province. Two months ago, 20 dangerous prisoners linked to cash-in-transit armed robberies managed to escape.
Police spokesperson, Zamukulungisa Jozana says they have identified some of the causes - corrupt officers were among the reasons cited.
Meanwhile the Centre for Security Studies says police and correctional services should be heavy- handed on corrupt officers. Centre director, Peter Gastrow, says this poses a challenge to government. He says communities won't have confidence in the police and justice systems, if the problem is not addressed.
Gastrow said: "When there is a noticeable increase in escapes from the prison cells or magistrate's court the alarm bells ought to ring because that inevitably points to an increase in corruption and collusion by the prison officials, or points to bad management and negligence by officials, therefore authorities need to examine and get to the bottom of it -- these escapes are undermining police and the justice system of this country."
