Canada: Halifax cops were too
A demonstration is planned for Thursday at the Halifax police station to protest alleged police misconduct.

Those who watched Halifax Regional Police arrest a number of protestors last month at the start of the Chebucto Road widening project are demanding accountability.

"Those of us who have witnessed arrests have filled out formal complaints and we’re going to all go into the police station as a collective group and hand in those complaints at once," said Brad Milligan, one of the organizers of Thursday’s event.

Medford Police Officer Indicte

Medford Police say an officer may have mistreated a teenaged boy while the 15 year old was in the officer's custody last May.

Officer Travis Henson has been indicted on two misdemeanor charges, Menacing and Official Misconduct in the First Degree. "Menacing" is when someone, by word or conduct, intentionally attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious injury. "Official Misconduct in the First Degree" is when a public servant knowingly performs an unauthorized exercise of official duties with the intent to cause harm.

The case began on May 28th when the Jackson County Juvenile Justice Center reported the teen's complaint to the Oregon State Police.

According to police, the juvenile was taken into custody by Officer Henson twice within 12 hours for running away from the Juvenile Shelter. The 15 year old claims before Officer Henson returned him to the shelter the second time... he was threatened with both physical harm and being tasered if he ran away again.

Officer Henson was placed on administrative leave, and the Jackson County District Attorney asked the Douglas County DA's Office to review the allegations. The case went to a Grand Jury yesterday, and Henson was indicted.

The Medford Police Department says it has has started an internal affairs investigation.

The department says "Officer Henson is entitled to due process to explain and to defend his actions. If the allegations are sustained and Officer Henson did in fact; commit crimes, violate departmental standard of conduct policies, and/or violated our trust and the public's trust, he will face disciplinary action that may include termination."
