A case of 'driving while black
If you're black and drive a fancy car, get ready for racial profiling by Montreal police, says the father of a family that complains of being harassed last week.

Lynwald Cox, 26, and his mother, Julie Cox, say they were harassed June 13 when police stopped him for making an illegal left turn while he was driving his Nissan Maxima near the Van Horne Shopping Centre.

The Chateauguay residents went public yesterday with their complaint to the police ethics commission, but Ryan Cox, father of Lynwald and husband of Julie, says it's part of a pattern.

Police officer charged over Ci

A police officer is due in court having been charged along with two other men over the murder of a barrister's clerk in London's Square Mile.

Lee Cook, 21, from Harold Wood, Essex, died after being attacked last Friday at the Alibi Bar in Shoe Lane, near historical Fleet Street, which was packed with over 200 people.

Police said Mr Cook, who worked at prestigious City law firm Francis Taylor Building headed by Robin Purchas QC, was struck up to three times. The apparently unprovoked and motiveless attack took place close to the dance floor.

City of London Police officer Adam Lowe, 26, of Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire has been charged alongside Lloyd Moore, 26, a portfolio administrator, of Epping, Essex, and Rick Maynard, 27, a product designer, of Woodford Green, Essex.

City of London Police Commander Patrick Rice said: "We are deeply disappointed that one of our officers has been charged in connection with this investigation. He has been suspended from duty and justice must now take its course.

"The community can rest assured that we will continue to carry out a robust and thorough inquiry to ensure those responsible for Lee Cook's death are brought to justice."

Lowe and Moore will appear at City of London Magistrates' Court on Friday while Maynard was remanded in custody on Thursday until November 1.

Friends of Mr Cook left bouquets and tributes outside the bar, which is a popular haunt for workers at nearby financial offices.

Murders are extremely rare in the Square Mile and the death is believed to be only the fifth in five years. In December, music promoter Olu Olagbaju, 26, was stabbed to death in the upmarket Shadans bar in New Bridge Street, near Blackfriars.
