You Tube Poster Alleging Polic
The Roanoke man who posted police dashboard camera video from his arrest last summer claiming police misconduct will have his next court appearance in October.
Roanoke police charged Ricky Poindexter with felony assault and battery of a police officer after his arrest on June 17, 2006.
Poindexter claimed police brutality.
His former defense attorney subpoenaed dash board camera video Poindexter believes backs up his claim.
He recently posted it on www.youtube.com .
The video has been viewed more than 3,000 times.
Poindexter has previous run-ins with the law, including convictions in 1998 for assault and battery, impeding police, and showing a gun.
Court records available on-line show Poindexter's probation was revoked on those charges in 2001.
Roanoke civic leader Martin Jeffrey has come to Poindexter's defense.
Jeffrey said during a recent interview he believed Roanoke police treated Poindexter unfairly.
He said Poindexter has two children and is in the process of turning his life around.
Roanoke police have declined to comment on the case.
