Corruption:Two CID officers na

Anti corruption police officers over the weekend arrested two CID officers attached to Kerugoya police station for allegedly soliciting for bribes.

According to Kirinyaga police boss Jasper Ombati, the two were arrested after their victims, armed with recorded tapes of their negotiations, reported them to the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission officers.

The duo, had separately tried to solicit for bribes from criminals arrested by police officers in Kerugoya over various charges.

It is alleged that one of the CID officers demanded 30,000 shillings from suspects who had been arrested for swindling a Naivasha businessman a three tonne lorry.

The second officer was nabbed after negotiating with the wife of a man arrested for being in possession of various accessories used in printing fake currency notes and also suspected to be a dangerous criminal.

They are scheduled to appear before the Embu anti-corruption court Tuesday.
