Police suspended in corruption

A police major and two other officers under his command have been suspended for allegedly leaking information that prematurely ended a federal corruption investigation, authorities said.

Maj. Frank McGarry, Lt. Chuck Roberts and Officer Tammy Clyde were suspended with pay Saturday while the FBI and police internal affairs complete separate investigations, police spokesman Tony Rode said Monday.

The corruption investigation led to the arrest in February of four Holllywood officers who thought they were working for the mob. They helped escort a large load of what they thought was heroin concealed inside a truck from Miami Beach to northern Broward County in November 2006.
