Spain: Ex-police chief held fo

A senior police intelligence officer was been arrested on Monday in connection with the multi-million euro civic corruption case which led to the dissolution of Marbella city council.

Florencio San Agapito, who is now head of security for Telefonica, was detained by police in Madrid.

He was being transferred to Marbella on Monday where he is expected to appear before a court.

Formerly, he was head of one of four departments in the department of security.

Marbella was dissolved by the central government after the multi-million euro scandal last year which led to the arrest of the mayor, the head of urban development, a number of councillors and developers.

They were said to have accepted bribes in return for illegally granting developers permission to building large developments on the Costa del Sol.
