Deputy minister told of police
BRITS – Residents of Bokfontein near Brits told Deputy Minister of Safety and Security Susan Shabangu that police at nearby Hartbeesport took bribes from illegal immigrants they arrested.
Shabangu was told this at a safety and security imbizo in Brits in the North West on Sunday.
In response, Shabangu said those with information on this should get the names of police involved and report them to the station commissioner.
“Those who are corrupt and have no respect of the law will be brought to book,” she said.
Shabangu said police officers who opposed transformation should resign.
She also announced that members of community policing forums (CPFs) would receive a stipend by next year. She said CPF members were doing a good job helping police to combat crime.
