Police resignations linked to

Some major changes are underway in the main police headquarters.

On Friday, Marek Bieńkowski resigned as Chief of Police. It is also possible that the Deputy Chief of Police Waldemar Jarczewski may soon go. According to daily Rzeczpospolita, officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CBŒ), who were working on a corruption case involving the Finance Ministry discovered unclear connections between Waldemar Jarczewski, the deputy chief of police with Henryk Stokłosa, who is a suspect in the case. When Jarczewski discovered that the CBŒ was investigating his relations with Stokłosa he tried to get rid of the CBŒ chief Jarosław Marzec and complained about him to the Interior Minister, who was then Ludwig Dorn and Bieńkowski. Janusz Kaczmarek, then the National Prosecutor and Justice Minister Ziobro defended Jarosław Marzec. Now, Janusz Kaczmarek has became the new Interior Minister the question is who will become new Chief of Police. There is speculation that it will probably be Konrad Kornatowski, a long-time colleague of Janusz Kaczmarek.
