Police to look into 'reliable'
The South Australian Police Commissioner says all allegations of corruption raised at the Dianne Brimble inquest in Sydney will be investigated if they are new and reliable.
The inquest into the Brisbane woman's 2002 cruise ship death will tomorrow begin hearing evidence from a new witness who is expected to make allegations of drug dealing against some of the eight men named as persons of interest in her death.
The South Australian man, to be known as Mr White, will give evidence amid tight security at the Glebe Coroners Court in Sydney and is also expected to make claims of police corruption.
Earlier today the court was read a letter from the solicitors representing the SA Police Commissioner Mal Hyde, which said the corruption claims were baseless and were not relevant to the inquest.
But in a statement, the commissioner says that regrettably the letter did not make his position clear and that if the claims by Mr White are reliable and new, they will be appropriately investigated.
