The British police arrested an outspoken advocate of fiery Islamic views Thursday just as the government closed ranks against an accusation that the country had become a "police state for Muslims."

TV sting gets 2 policemen dism

THE Punjab Police today dismissed two police personnel and suspended two others, besides registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against all the four.

ADGP (Intelligence) J P Birdi said Inspector Jagdish Singh posted as SHO Banga and ASI Inderjit Singh, incharge, Police Chowki Asron, had been dismissed from service under Article 301. ‘‘Taking strong notice of a sting operation carried out by a news channel yesterday in district Nawanshahar, this action was taken,” he added. SIs Satnam Singh and Darshan Singh have been suspended for indulging in anti-social activities and corruption.
