SF TO STUDY DISCIPLINE AT OTHE

San Francisco city officials will study how police departments elsewhere in the state handle discipline in their police forces, the Board of Supervisors ordered today in a unanimous vote.

Supervisor Sean Elsbernd, who proposed the directive, said it was taken in response to recent findings issued from the Ad Hoc Police Ethics Panel.

The ethics panel concluded that too much ambiguity existed in the police department regarding discipline and the role of the chief, the Police Commission, and the Office of Citizen Complaints to mete it out.

The panel was formed in response to a scandal over production of an internal police training video that was seen as derogatory to some groups.

The legislative analyst will conduct the review for the board.
