Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle on Thursday fired four officers.

The firings bring to 62 the number of officers fired by Kunkle since he became chief in 2004. Fired after private meetings with the chief were:

Australia: Whistleblow cop cas

THE former officer who blew the whistle on WA police "lying in court and competing over the number of arrests they could make" is taking her allegations to the Corruption and Crime Commission.
And the one-time first-class constable says she has recruited another former officer, who shares her concerns, to support her complaint.

The whistleblower made her claims in last week's The Sunday Times, saying her colleagues had lied to protect each other in court.

The 36-year-old also accused police of arresting people on false charges to "boost their stats", deliberately starting brawls while on the beat and bragging about committing sex acts with women down side streets.

The woman, who quit the service two weeks ago after five years as an officer, says she is prepared to name ex-colleagues.

She launched an Equal Opportunity Commission case against WA Police this year. But she denies it motivated her to make the allegations.

Her story sparked hundreds of comments on The Sunday Times' website PerthNow.

This week the woman was contacted by CCC investigators. She said at least one other officer would join her case. He is a policeman who quit the force this week.

The woman said she hoped other past or serving officers who had any evidence of police corruption, heavy handedness, perjury or bullying within the force would also come forward.

She said she took her concerns to superiors while in the force, but was told to "toughen up" because her police team was getting results.

"I want it aired in the CCC so maybe the Commissioner will see what's going on and realise there is a real problem with WA Police," the mother-of-two said this week.

"It's not the entire force - there are many, many great coppers but a handful are certainly doing the wrong thing."

Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan said the woman's claims were unsubstantiated.

But he said there was "plenty of evidence" of his willingness to deal with officers who committed offences or breached regulations, with 24 dismissed last year and 34 charged with criminal offences.

His spokesman said: "Put simply, (the officer) should put up or shut up. He certainly is not concerned by her threat to go to the CCC."

Mr O'Callaghan said the woman lodged bullying and discrimination complaints in 2007, but an independent investigator found they were unsubstantiated.

Police Minister Rob Johnson also defended WA Police, saying: "There are robust safeguards in place for officers who may not follow police procedures and I have full confidence in the Police Commissioner, the courts and the CCC to take the appropriate action against any officer who is found guilty of a criminal offence."
