Home detention for contempt co
A FORMER police officer who became the first person convicted of contempt of the NSW Police Integrity Commission (PIC) will serve his six-month sentence at home.

Christopher John Walker, 57, was sentenced in September to six months jail, but was released on bail while authorities assessed his suitability for home detention.

UK: British policeman fired fo

A British police force has dismissed an officer after his links to the far-right British National Party were published on a blog.
Constable Steve Bettley lost his position with the Merseyside police in northwest England because of his membership of the anti-immigrant party.

He was suspended last November after being identified as a BNP member.

A misconduct panel concluded Saturday that his party membership was a clear breach of departmental policy that could not be tolerated because the party's extreme views.

Deputy Chief Constable Bernard Lawson says police are banned from belonging to the BNP or taking part in BNP activities. The BNP is a small fringe party that advocates harsh measures to control Britain's immigrant population.
